Supply Chain Update—The global supply chain issues are also impacting the two-way radio industry. We have received the following guidance from our suppliers:

  • Motorola—New PCR orders are running 15-24 week lead times. Our existing backorders are stated to be 40% shipped by April 1st, 80% shipped by July 1st and the balance by October 1st. Trbo R7 Portables—15 weeks. We have backorders on some batteries (such as IS/HazLoc) dating back 6+ months.
  • Kenwood—These orders are running 6-12 weeks, but they are very model dependent. Price Increases— Radios, parts and accessories have all experienced price increases between 8 & 25%. There is a lot of instability in the market. We are doing our best to honor quotes, but in some cases we are getting retroactive price increases from our suppliers on accepted orders.

Recent Deliveries—Congratulations to Marlboro Fire and Bergen County Sheriff on their recent vehicle deliveries.

Monthly Tech Tip— Antennas are a critical link in your radio system. They are manufactured or tuned to work on the frequencies that you use and should only be replaced with the correct replacement part. Mobile antennas that are removed to go in a car wash or garage should only be put back on after the mount is fully dried. If you have multiple antennas on the vehicle, make sure the correct antenna goes back on the correct mount. Cracked portable antennas can alter the tuning or cause a burn if the internal wire contacts your hand. Hanging things like keys from the portable antenna will impact the performance of the radio and shorten the life of the antenna.

New Employees— We welcome our nine new team members Dave, Brooke, Nancy, Beth, Glen, Skip, Jimmy, John, and Pete from Tactical Communications at our new Guilford, CT location. Vito has joined our engineering team in our Congers office.

We are hiring at all three locations!
